About the Author
Like most writers, The Lady M (formerly known as C. L. Summers), starting writing as a child. She took her craft to a whole new level in May 2011 when she left her corporate job to complete and publish her first book, The Kama Sutra of Celibacy: 101 Ways to be Successfully Celibate, about the ups and downs of living a life of celibacy. The Lady M shares her real life stories and emotions with grit and humor with the goal of encouraging and helping others to succeed not only in celibacy but in life overall. She is working on her second book, Dancing With Daddy to be released in early 2014. The Lady M has earned a Masters of Arts in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and will begin work on a second Master’s degree this coming January 2014 as she begins her journey to becoming a Christian Counselor. At present she is single without children and lives in Gallatin, TN.

101 Reasons to read this book

With the word limit, I probably can't give 101 reasons as I said in the catchy title of this review. So, how about three?
1) Sexual morality is a virtue. It may not be one that is honored in most cultures as is bravery, honesty, patience, temperance, and others, but C. L. Summers is going against the grain of mainstream society as she helps to elevate this commonly ignored virtue. That is courageous. She deserves an audience.
2) In her book, Summers does not give a "fire and brimstone" sermon on why one should be celibate. She does not come off as "holier than thou" in her discussion about her own decision to walk in celibacy. She is a Christian woman, but her advice will ring a note of truth, and be applicable to both men and women of any creed. This book is more about "how to be celibate" than "why be celibate."
3) Sex sells, even when it has no regard for the dignity of the human person. C. L. Summers took the time and effort to give practical, actionable advice that can be used to achieve a higher quality of life for all of us Earth dwellers... even when this author knows it's a topic in a very small "niche market" -It's not about raking in the dollars, it's about making the world a better place.

This book is a real life open testimony of one woman's struggle to live a life of celibacy in a sex driven world that considers those choosing to wait for marriage abnormal at best. Through the pages of this book we learn that saving sex for marriage is not only not abnormal, but healing, cleansing and life changing to the heart, mind, soul and body! It's full of laughs, truths, honesty and out the box ways to journey successfully down the road of celibacy. A courageous journey to a better way to love and live life! Kudos!

I was disappointed

The book was heavily Christian. I'm not a Christian. Using the Kama Sutra in the title was a misnomer. When I see Kama Sutra I think of tantric sex and sexiness in general. This book was neither. I thought that the admonition to not let any men into your house was a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't want to have sex with just any man. Saying to pray about staying celibate and quoting Biblical scripture is kind of weak. That may be the way she has somewhat successfully stayed celibate (there was a slip up in there), but that is not helpful for someone who is taking up celibacy for other reasons. If you are a Christian maybe this book is for you. But the author gave the impression of being somewhat desperate, and that was unappealing. Being successfully celibate should mean maintaining whether you eventually get married or not. Some people are just not into casual sex as the author has experienced. I was looking for a book that would help me on my new path of celibacy and this was not it. There are not a lot of books about celibacy available, so I commend the author for trying to fill the gap.
