I hope that somebody does whatever is needed to get the publication rights to Mass in Slow Motion. A book this good needs to be in print again. Mnsgr. Knox found himself stuck at a girl's school during WWII and its aftermath and rather than sulk about what could have been a dull assignment he decided to liven things up a bit by preaching series of sermons to the girls that broke down the Mass and explained it bit by bit.
Since Knox was talking to girls he's very funny, very kind and speaks in a way that was understandable to them. Now of course since the book was first published in 1948, Knox is talking about the Tridentine Mass instead of the trucated version we have now. It really doesn't matter. The important parts remain and his insights on what it feels like to celebrate a Mass with one's whole heart are still insightful. I smiled for most of time while reading the book. And when I wasn't smiling it was because of the tears. Some parts of the book are extremely moving. If you can find a good used copy jump on it.

IExcellent book on The Mass

A friend recommended this book to me to use to explain the Mass to my children. It sounds like an excellent discussion of the parts of the Mass so that a child could understand. I would like it republished.

Amazing explanation of the mysteries of the Mass

This book makes the mysteries of the Mass come alive. The creative way he uses figurative language and analogies makes it accessible to children (and adults quite frankly). Fruitful ideas for helping your child learn how to meditate during the parts of the mass so they don't get to that stage where they complain, "I don't get anything out of it." That only happens when they don't understand what is really going on spiritually. I'm buying every copy I can find to give as First Communion gifts. I found this much deeper and much better than Maria Montessori's book. Probably because I read Fr. Knox first. Only bought Montessori because I couldn't find another copy of this.
